Artist Statement
Waylon and Carole Alden-Breaux are the creative duo behind all of the pieces on display. Carole, in the picture, is a nationally known fiber artist and soft sculptor. She is also a critically acclaimed "outsider artist," having no formal artistic training prior to her establishing herself in the art world. She was the victim of brutal domestic violence and was forced to defend herself and her children by taking the life of her abuser. She is currently incarcerated in Utah. I, Waylon, met Carole while serving my own prison sentence in Louisiana. We were introduced through a mutual friend, and we have been a committed couple ever since, for the last seven years. We want to use our art as a teaching tool, to show people the true power of love in a world that desperately needs to see it. We want to use our art to show how we are not bound by our past, that each of our futures are wide open, that we are all powerful beyond measure. If you would like to purchase any of our pieces, you can do so at www.mkt.com/alden-breaux-studios.
